98 Days Out: A Countdown Survival Guide
Do the math from today's date and you get a clean, terrifying number: 98 days to November 19.
Ninety-eight days is long enough to burn out and short enough to waste. The superfans who enjoy launch week most won't be the ones who refreshed hardest — they'll be the ones who paced. Here's the plan.
The milestones that are actually real
Everything on this list is announced, public, and datable. That's the whole list. Anything else you hear between now and launch goes through the fake-leak filter first.
- Aug 27 — An Extended Look premieres on Netflix, then hits YouTube free six hours later.
- Nov 12 — preload window opens. Your download finishes before launch night, not during it.
- Nov 19 — the door to Leonida opens.
Three dates. Ninety-eight days. Everything between them is vibes management.
The rewatch schedule
There are exactly two official trailers. Resist the urge to watch them daily — you'll sand the magic off. The sustainable cadence:
- Once a month, full attention. No second screen. Let them hit like the first time.
- After the Extended Look, do a back-to-back viewing of everything official. Note what changed, what got confirmed, what you misremembered. That contrast is the good stuff.
- Skip the 4K frame-by-frame breakdown videos until the final month. Save some discoveries for yourself.
Pre-order math
Opinion section, clearly labeled: with the Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99, the twenty-dollar question is simple — do the extras change your night-one experience, or your month-three experience? If a bonus only pays off deep in the endgame, the standard edition plus twenty bucks of watch-party snacks is the stronger build. Pre-order whenever you like; digital doesn't sell out. The only hard deadline that matters is preload on Nov 12 — be ready before that, and you're ready, period.
Sleep like it's a raid schedule
Launch week is an endurance event and most people train for it backwards, banking hype instead of rest.
- Two weeks out: start nudging your sleep schedule toward your planned launch-night hours. An hour of drift a week is painless.
- Launch eve: full night's sleep. The game will still be there. The servers, historically speaking across this industry, may need a minute anyway.
- Book the time off now. Ninety-eight days of notice is a gift to your future self and your manager.
The one-line version
Watch the Extended Look on Aug 27. Preload on Nov 12. Sleep. Play on Nov 19.
Everything else — every "insider," every countdown-reset account, every too-good screenshot — is noise between the three dates that matter. We'll be here for all 98 days, receipts in hand.
